Dress in Layers – Bromo is very cold in the morning (5–10°C). Wear a warm jacket, scarf, and gloves.
Bring a Mask or Scarf – The “sea of sand” is dusty. A mask will help you breathe more comfortably.
Comfortable Shoes – Choose shoes with good grip for walking on sand and climbing the crater.
Camera Ready – The sunrise view from Penanjakan or King Kong Hill is one of the most iconic in the world.
Midnight Start – The hike begins around 00:30 AM to see the blue fire before sunrise.
Wear Trekking Shoes – The trail is rocky and uphill; proper shoes are important.
Gas Mask is Essential – Sulfur gas at the crater can be strong. Bring a gas mask or rent one from local guides.
Stay Warm – It’s very cold before sunrise. Wear a jacket, gloves, and a hat.
Follow Your Guide – For safety, never go too close to the crater lake and always listen to your guide.
